Death Penalty

 We should have responsibilities about what we do and the law is a way that we do a responsibility by punishing our bad behavior. The punishment should be decided depends on the result of a crime. If the punishment is sentenced more strict or less strict than the result, it would be unfair. People agree with this idea but how about death penalty?

 Should we sentence death penalty to a murderer? I think we should do that. However some people are against death penalty and they say, human's life is always prior to everything. That must be true but should we respect murderer's life and right? I don't think so. One can be respected when he respects others. However muderers don't respect others, so they aren't enough to be respected by others.   
 Some people probably say death penalty is inhumane, so imprisonment for the rest of his life is betteer. But is it humane? and how can we comfort victim's family? Besides death penalty includes the law and a purpose of the law is for realizing social justice. It is a system to achieve some purposes rather than a method to reduce a rate of crime. That's why we don't need to think whether it is humanity or not.

 If it is one of the law, we have to follow and keep it . Before people say murderer's right, we need to think about the victimes and their family.

KOREA Education System

Many Koreans blame Korea education system although our education system is recognized as one of the excellent system by other countries. Barack Obama who is the President of the USA, mentioned excellence of Korea education system, and McKinsey which is the best consultant company selected Korea, Finland and Hong Kong that countries having good education system.

 However why do many Koreans have complaints about under the present education system? People say our education system can’t meet people’s demands and it causes increasing of private education sector. We must know one certain reason how has Korea developed very fast. One of the motives is our education system. The problem is our desire that our children would be better than other children, not education system. Whenever they complain the education system, they compare our education system to other countries system and they say that other countries people don’t experience ours, so they don’t know well. But I would ask people saying above way, have you experienced others? Our education system has been changed with our demands. If you want to blame something, blame your too high expectations and desires. Who sends their 5 or 6-year-old children to study English in private sector, make their son and daughter stay an academy for studying Mathematics after starting middle or high school.

 Public education is for all, not only for one’s children. And there is nothing that all people feel satisfied. Of course our education system isn’t perfect but it is good enough.

Falling birthrate in Korea

Birthrate is decreasing and it is one of social problems in almost all advanced countries. Our society also has the same problem. According to survey, the average birthrate in Korea was 1.22 last year. So many experts are worried about this social phenomenon.

One certain reason decreasing birthrate is a financial problem. Unemployment crisis make people poor, even though people find a job, they have to delay marriage and childbirth because of high cost of living and raising children. Increasing divorce rate of newly married couple is another reason of low birthrate, because they would divorce if they felt their husband and wife aren’t the right person and some of them think that no having baby makes them decide to divorce. It is said that newly married couples even postpone registration of marriage for the same reason.

 Labor is one of important factors to decide national competitiveness, so low birthrate causes low economic growth. And our society becomes the aging society rapidly aging society. The government already knew this social change and what problem happens in the future. So the government is trying to increase birthrate but it seems that their policies don’t work well so far. One of policies is financial benefit but people say it isn’t really helpful.

 The government needs to benchmark a successful case of other countries and provide more practical policy to increase birthrate. At the same time, people must realize the importance of the problem. And it might be difficult to be solved by the government only.

Plastic surgery

 Several years ago, people didn't want to be known that they underwent plastic surgery. It was because people regarded plastic surgery as a kind of lookism. So when people met those people who had plastic surgery, they thought she was vulgarian. But as time went by, our idea of cosmetic surgery and people who had dosmetic surgery were changed. Nowadays people think it is very honest exposing they had plastic operation. Due to the change, plastic surgery isn't shame anymore

 We can see some advantages of plastic operation and I'm also one of people who are in fawor with plastic surgery. Many people say that they could have confifdence after having plastic surgery. Indeed one female friend of mine had plastic surgery. Before having plastic surgery,  she was introvery and hadn't had a boyfriend. But now she is rather outgoing person and seeing a guy. As her case, if it makes people happier and more confidentm, it is worthy enough. And appearance has become one's attraction and competitiveness today. So in terms of competitiveness, we need to care our appearance like other abilities.

 We know, being beautiful and handsome is one of our basic desires. And being competitive is very important in competitive society like ours. That is the reason why we are getting generous to have cosmetic surgery. But we need to be always watchful against cosmetic surgery addiction and lookism. If so, plastic surgery will be very acceptable.

International Marriage

Koreans, especially our grandparents and parents, might feel proud that Koreans are pure blood. And that is one reason why they don't want foreigners as a member of family although they welcome foreigners to be a guest. However the younger generation may think a little different way. the more people have a chance to visit other countries for studying or business, the more changes we can see in our society. Some people don't care other's nationality and race. Other people even prefer foreigner to Koreans. It is proved by increased rate of international marriage.

I'm also in favor of international marriage. But we need to change and improve our society for international marriage couple. One of my friend met a Filipina and got married with her. They have two children and seem to live well in Korea. But he always wants to go to the Philippines again. Because he is worried about discrimination to his children. He says that although many people are in favor of international marriage, it is only for between Korean and Western people. To South East Asia people, We still have discriminations and prejudice and he doesn't want his children to be hurted. It is very shameful but true. We look down on South East Asia people because they are from poor countries. Actually I studied in the Philippines last year and I met many Koreans who were studying as well me. Some students backbite teachers despite they were taught.

The rate of international marriage is getting increase but we are still immature. We should change our idea and greet foreigner no matter what nationality he has.

Aid to north Korea

Aid to north Korea

Every people who live in Korea have a question that should we help the North Korea or just ignore the famine of North Korea in order to be destroyed by themselves. It has been one of issues for a long time. And after two conflicts happened (Chun-an worship and Yeon-Pyung island), some people say there is no worth to aid North Korea. And it is said that many North Korea people are starving and dying, but paradoxically the leadership of North Korea has saved wealth. We have heard they spent money with a military parade for Kim Jung Il’s birthday.

 However, we shouldn’t stop helping North Korea, even though they use some of aids to the force and they distribute it to the leadership class first. We need to make our country peaceful with two reasons. Firstly as far as I know, the arms race cost a lot more than aiding North Korea. Although helping North Korea doesn’t work well, we can have hope that it leads North Korea to the table for peace. Secondly anyway we need to help them at least we want to be reunion. for the reasons, we must not lead North Korea make extremely radical decision.

 A defector from North Korea said before “If we aid North Korea, our sons and daughters will live for a while. But our grandchildren will experience the same one” It sounds sad and we know he might be right. Our aid never sloves the famine in North Korea and North Korea people in the future could be in the same difficult until reunification. But I'm worried that they would choose the war, if we didn't help them anymore and just let them die. If the war happens in Korea, it will destroy everything in Korea. We can’t ruin our country and what we have achieved. Because we have too many things to give up.    

The impacts of The Middle East revolutions

Should we intervene The Middle East revolutions?

We know there are campaigns and fights for democracy in The Middle East. It seems to be a war between the government and people who want a revolution. And the war causes not just many people’s blood and death but also side effects to other countries. So some countries as well The UN think it is too serious to look over. However do we have a right to intervene in the conflict?
I support the intervention of multinational force to The Middle East with two reasons. First, we should be against all kinds of violence. Although each country can choose their ideology, if there are some violent actions, we need to say how bad violent action is. If it doesn’t work, we need to take more positive and active actions to stop the violent actions.
Second, because of globalization, a problem happening in one country isn’t limited only the country. In other words, The Middle East revolutions already have had side effect to other countries economically. The Middle East is well known as the biggest oil producing area. Many countries are depending on their oil import from The Middle East. However since they have been in political and ideological trouble, many countries also have been in trouble about oil import. So far, it doesn’t work well that the efforts of each government to minimize the side effect from The Middle East crisis. That’s another reason why we need to intervene The Middle East
The sovereignty is very important and we should respect each country’s sovereignty but, sometimes we need to do some actions to other countries even though we know that some people might say it would violate their sovereignty. Thus, intervention of multinational force is needed humanistically and economically.
